Electronic Design and System Integration

I have an extensive hands-on background in the following, and I can act as individual contributor or as advisor to your engineers - offering solutions, best practice recommendations, taking part in design reviews, etc.

• Hardware architecture, including benchmarking and selection of processors, cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GNSS (GPS/GLONASS) chipsets, LCD displays, Li-Ion batteries, cameras, power architecture and sensors.

• Product architecture encompassing all aspects of electronic and mechanical integration.

• Electronic schematic and PCB design and CAD including best practices for DFM, DFT, EMC, thermal performance and regulatory compliance.

• Planning for and executing board bring-up, debug and validation.

• Thermal design best practices, passive heat spreader / heatsink and active cooling.

• Management of cellular and Wi-Fi RF circuit and antenna design and validation.

Manufacturing NPI and Test

I have introduced many new products to a number of manufacturing facilities in China and the US and I can do the same for your company. My approach is to work closely with the manufacturing partners to understand and negotiate the best production and test methods to fit their capabilities, without compromising the required standard of quality for my client.

• Management of rapid prototyping, quick-turn PCB assembly and volume manufacturing.

• Certification strategy planning, testing and compiling reports for FCC, IC, CE, UK CA and CCC compliance.

• Training of factory engineers in various countries to debug failures, and improve quality and yield.

• Design and implementation of quality procedures and IQC.

• Definition of manufacturing test procedures and test equipment to ensure product quality and collection of valuable log data.
